Bernardo Floriano Espresso

The Department of Huila, in Colombia, is considered one of the best areas in the country for the growth and good performance of the coffee plant.

Its temperate climate, volcanic soils and the altitude of its mountains create ideal conditions for the cultivation of varieties with complex, bright and floral aromatic profiles.

Here we work alongside Coocentral, a cooperative that focuses on total transparency and being close to producers with the aim of promoting their economic security.

Bernardo Floriano, the producer, is originally from this municipality and has been involved in coffee farming all his life.

He learned the trade from his parents and, as an adult, became independent and worked his own farm. Today, two of his three children help him with the farm work, are active participants in the family coffee project, and manage several plots of land.

The process for this coffee begins with the hand-picking and selection of the cherries. Next, the beans are pulped and left to ferment. Finally, the coffee beans are washed and left to dry on raised beds for 20 to 30 days until they reach the optimal moisture level.
