Colombia is undoubtedly the promised land for coffee. Several factors contribute to this unique landscape. First, the country's spectacular topography, dominated by various Andean mountain ranges that provide an enviable altitude and a number of incredible microclimates for coffee cultivation. But it doesn't end there. Since Colombia is crossed by the equator (the Earth's axis), we can find year-round harvests in this South American country, depending on the mountain range we are in. And the story wouldn't be complete without the pride its people feel in cultivating coffee to the fullest. A true marvel!

The Contreras Brothers, our producer friends
Our direct contact focused on the department of Huila and specialized in the municipality of Guadalupe. In 2017, we discovered our star coffee-growing family: the Contreras. A group of brothers led by José Heider and followed by Luis, Felipe, and David. During our first trips to Colombia, we realized that generational change could be a risk factor for developing a long-term project to which we could commit and improve together.
The Contreras family is a great inspiration to other Colombian coffee producers in the region. Their vision is completely focused on producing high-quality coffee. And we have managed to elevate that quality through post-harvest processes, namely fermentation and drying.

Work at origin
Specifically, a batch from Felipe initially caught our eye. Blind tasting, we found the coffee to be a traditional washed Castillo, but with a juiciness unusual for this variety, characterized by high acidity, herbal notes, and a medium body. To be honest, we're not big fans of it, but we accepted the challenge. The following year, we tested different long fermentations to avoid dry tones and increase juiciness and body. We achieved an optimal result, and this year we went one step further.
We present the first harvest of Colombian coffee from the Contreras Brothers using the "Honey Glory" process, an exclusive recipe from Right Side Coffee. We can say we've exceeded our expectations with a very elegant coffee, with a dense and solid body. Notes of coconut milk, papaya, pineapple, and light touches of lime with a long, almondy finish. Being involved from start to finish is our motivation and what drives us to improve every day. What are you waiting for to try this special batch? Subscribe and tell us what you think.
